New Procedures for Pharmaceutical Exports: Submit Certificate of Analysis, Port Officials May Retain Samples for Tracking.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade has issued new procedures for the export of pharmaceuticals and drugs to enhance enforcement under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. Exporters must submit a Certificate of Analysis from either the manufacturer, an approved laboratory of the importing country, or a laboratory approved by the Drugs Controller. Additionally, Drug Control Department officials at port offices may retain samples of consignments for reference and tracking purposes. These measures aim to prevent the export of counterfeit drugs, effective immediately as per the Foreign Trade Policy amendments.
