Restricted working is not a long-term solution- we need more spacious offices, work place, homes, roads and vehicles etc.

DEVKUMAR KOTHARI
COVID-19 Highlights Need for Spacious Living, Work, and Travel Environments to Ensure Health and Safety The article discusses the inadequacy of current spaces for living, working, and traveling, highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. It argues that restricted working and partial attendance are not sustainable solutions. The author emphasizes the need for more spacious environments, including offices, homes, public transport, and schools, to ensure health and safety through adequate distancing. The article suggests that reducing occupancy in buses, trains, and aircraft is necessary, along with creating more spacious infrastructure. This shift would require significant capital investment and employment, addressing long-term safety and comfort in daily activities. (AI Summary)

Earlier article on similar subject on this website:

MORE SPACIOUS HOMES AND OFFICES ARE REQUIRED.

An Article By: - DEV KUMAR KOTHARI  April 1, 2021

https://www.taxtmi.com/article/detailed?id=9731

In the above article some discussions were made about situations created by COVID1 and related lock down, gradual unlicking etc. Author received some calls on the subject and on further discussions it is felt that in fact major portion of our public have been living and working with inadequate space, travelling in overcrowded vehicles including aircrafts and first class and above compartments.

Covid19 , lockdown , unlocking and restricted working:

In view of Covid19 lock downs have been imposed and there have been partial unlocking. The extent of unlocking is being revised from time to time due to changes in risks of COVID19 virus.

New variant of virus are also felt and causing more uncertainties and fear factor.

COVID19 is fast spreading and more fatal than other viruses, For this reason

In partial unlocking working with 25 % or more attendance is permitted with a view to ensure distancing and safety. Many activities are not yet allowed or allowed with minimum gathering of people. Many restrictions are imposed by governments and many restrictions are followed voluntarily by people who are conscious about health of all.

Restricted and partial working is not a long-term solution:

Restricted and partial working is not a long-term solution. We must understand that many of us have been living and  working in inadequate spaces. We have been travelling in congested vehicles including air crafts and trains. Therefore, we need to have more space in all arrangements  so that with full attendance distancing can be maintained for health and to avoid health hazards.

Author feels that spacious setting in most of area will be required for examples:

Due to viruses like Covid19  we have learnt that we need specious places to work and travel.

Spacious buses will be required to maintain distancing and to avoid overcrowding and to have better health. In fact more number of buses will be required.

We found overcrowded public buses school buses staff buses this is to somehow save cost for running buses as well as capital cost for purchasing new buses.

Trains- even in case of trains we observed very less distance between two passengers in the class three tier sleeper or AC chair  car  there is very little distance between two passengers . This  also need to be increased. In fact  even in AC first class compartments in  trains the distance is less than desired, author felt lot of problems when some co-passengers used to smoke and drink in AC first class compartments.

In fact in aircraft also , particularly in economy class, distancing is missing. There should not be more than two passengers instead of three, as per sitting arrangements in many aircraft. With three persons sitting side by side, there is hardly any distancing, if one seat be left unused, then only there will be a distance of about 18-24 inches. If area be measured in terms of cubic feet perhaps only 1/3 seats will ensure reasonable distancing and availability of overall place.

School buses- in most of school buses we find  overcrowding. There is very little distance between two or more passengers whether it to be students or  teachers or  school staff in many school buses  we find  sitting tightly as well as standing of passengers.

In case of kids it is very important that their travels from home to school and from school to home should we safe in all respect including  sitting arrangements for that it is necessary that buses should be specious.

Lower occupancy in buses and offices:

During covid times government issued directions and instructions to  run buses with 30 to 50% occupancy in Delhi instructions have been issued for lower occupancy for running metro rail during   unlocking in phased manner

Offices are also working with  different strength of staff .

For health issues directions for working with lower strength for travelling in buses and  lower occupancy  or attendance in offices and factories  is not a long-term solution.

Long-term answer to continuing  problem lies in provision of more specious  homes, home cum office, offices, factories, other work places, hospitals, spacious roads, and vehicles.

In case of vehicle of all type  it will be difficult to make them most  spacious  so answer is to   reduce seats  and births and therefore more vehicles will be required.

To work full fledged and with higher production level it will be required that more spacious factory buildings, office buildings, and vehicles have to be created

Strict rules for not standing in  buses  and trains will have to be issued and  enforced.

In trains also number of seats will have to be reduced and strict rule no standing has to be followed.

The above are just some  thoughts and illustrations, subject matter is vast and it require a complete re-look on the aspect of safe and comfortable living, working, traveling and enjoying etc.

For all these requirements and desirability massive capital investment and more employment of people will be required.
