Delhi Budget 2010 - A summary of Changes in DVAT rates as proposed in Delhi Budget 2010

Surender Gupta
DVAT rate changes: specified goods reclassified, some moved to exemption while others face higher tax rates. Delhi's 2010 budget reclassifies numerous goods under the Delhi Value Added Tax regime: select medical products become exempt; specified transport fuels, bio-inputs and household items are newly subject to a low-rate levy; certain previously exempt goods, including some distribution rights and scraps, are brought into the standard tax band; many consumer and industrial items are moved from a concessionary lower rate to the standard rate; and particular fuels and beverages are elevated to a higher tax band, with these itemised changes effective from the notified date.
