Rule 12 Requires Mid-Term Review of Imported Goods by Screening Committee to Decide on Validity Extension or De-Specification.
Rule 12 of the Customs (Assistance in Value Declaration of Identified Imported Goods) Rules, 2023 mandates a mid-term review by the Screening Committee after half of the Order's validity period under rule 5. The review assesses whether to de-specify the identified goods or extend the validity period. The Committee may also conduct reviews at other times as needed. Following the review, a reasoned report with recommendations is submitted to the Board at least thirty days before the Order's expiry, suggesting withdrawal, extension, or modification of parameters specified in the Order.
