Determination of origin obligations: exporters must submit required information and maintain records enabling verification of origin. Exporters and producers must submit required information and supporting documents for issuance of a Certificate of Origin, may face penalties for incorrect material representations, and must retain the minimum information and supporting documentation for no less than five years from the end of the year of issue. They are required to maintain commercial accounting and supplier records, including cost breakdowns, and to permit inspection by issuing authorities or importing Party customs for origin verification. If aware of incorrect information affecting a certificate's validity, they must promptly notify the importer, issuing authority and importing Party customs in writing.
