<h1>Central Government can appoint judicial and accountant members for Income-tax Appellate Tribunal under Income-tax Act</h1> The Central Government is empowered to constitute an Appellate Tribunal with judicial and accountant members to exercise functions under the Income-tax Act. Judicial members must have at least ten years of judicial office experience, membership in the Indian Legal Service at Grade II or higher for three years, or ten years as an advocate, with certain periods of related legal service included in the calculation. Accountant members must have at least ten years of chartered accountancy practice or equivalent experience in the Indian Income-tax Service at a specified senior level. The President of the Tribunal is appointed by the Central Government from among sitting or retired High Court judges with a minimum of seven years' service or from the Tribunal's Vice-Presidents. The Government may also appoint one or more Vice-Presidents, who exercise delegated powers and functions of the President as authorized.
