    <title>2025 (3) TMI 2084 - ITAT CHENNAI</title>
    <link>https://www.taxtmi.com/caselaws?id=470380</link>
<description>Interest or dividend income earned by a co-operative society from investments with another registered co-operative society qualifies for deduction under section 80P(2)(d). A co-operative bank registered under applicable co-operative societies law remains a co-operative society within section 2(19) for this purpose. The exclusion in section 80P(4), which concerns deduction claims by co-operative banks, does not change that status when determining an investing co-operative society&#039;s entitlement. Accordingly, interest on deposits with such a co-operative bank is deductible under section 80P(2)(d), rather than being assessed under section 80P(2)(a)(i).</description>
