    <title>2025 (6) TMI 2111 - NATIONAL COMPANY LAW APPELLATE TRIBUNAL, CHENNAI</title>
    <link>https://www.taxtmi.com/caselaws?id=467829</link>
<description>An appellate remedy in contempt matters lies only against a punitive order passed in contempt jurisdiction. An order closing contempt proceedings as infructuous, or dismissing the contempt petition without punishment, does not attract the statutory appeal under the Contempt of Courts Act framework applied through the Companies Act. A person merely arrayed as an opposite party in contempt proceedings acquires no right of appeal unless an order punishing contempt is made against them. The appeal was therefore treated as incompetent.</description>
