    <title>2025 (12) TMI 1217 - ITAT JABALPUR</title>
    <link>https://www.taxtmi.com/caselaws?id=783677</link>
<description>Survey-time additions for alleged excess gold jewellery, cash, silver stock, renovation expenditure and estimated gross profit were rejected where contemporaneous records explained the discrepancies. Repair and remodelling registers, receipt vouchers and employee statements showed that part of the jewellery belonged to customers; bank withdrawals supported the cash balance; purchase vouchers explained the silver stock; and the valuation report did not separately establish unexplained renovation investment beyond the recorded books. With the foundational excess stock and unexplained investment not proved, the estimated gross profit addition also failed. The ratio is that a survey statement alone cannot sustain an addition when documentary evidence and surrounding material adequately account for the alleged discrepancy.</description>
