    <title>2013 (11) TMI 1826 - Supreme Court (LB)</title>
    <link>https://www.taxtmi.com/caselaws?id=465312</link>
<description>SC, in writ proceedings concerning large-scale iron ore mining in Goa, continued its earlier suspension of mining but permitted transportation and sale of approximately 11.48 million tons of already excavated ore strictly through court-supervised e-auction. It directed that net sale proceeds (after taxes and royalty) be kept lease-wise in fixed deposits by the State, to be disbursed only after final adjudication on the legality of the leases. A three-member Monitoring Committee was constituted to verify inventories, conduct e-auctions and maintain accounts. SC further constituted an Expert Committee to undertake a Macro EIA Study and recommend a cap on annual iron ore excavation in Goa, based on sustainable development and inter-generational equity principles.</description>
