    <title>2013 (8) TMI 1093 - KERALA HIGH COURT</title>
    <link>https://www.taxtmi.com/caselaws?id=277097</link>
<description>A Public Prosecutor&#039;s report supporting the progress of investigation and specific reasons for continued detention can validly justify extension of the investigation period under the UAPA, and the challenge to the extension failed. Pre-amendment Section 15 of the UAPA was construed broadly to cover acts intended to threaten the security of India or strike terror, including conduct causing loss to property and financial stability through circulation of fake Indian currency notes. On that construction, the pre-2013 omission of an express reference to economic security did not exclude such allegations, and the objection to applicability of the statute failed.</description>
