Establishment of Special Courts for speedy trial of offences under the Depositories Act: the Central Government may establish or designate single-judge Special Courts, appointing serving Sessions or Additional Sessions Judges with High Court concurrence. All offences under the Act are to be taken cognizance of and tried by the Special Court for the area, with the High Court exercising appeal and revision powers as if the Special Court were a Court of Session. Proceedings before Special Courts follow the Code of Criminal Procedure; prosecutors are treated as Public Prosecutors and must have seven years' advocacy practice or seven years in a legally specialised post. Until Special Courts are in place, Sessions Courts will try such offences.
