It further held that a charterer&#039;s de facto control, possession, or beneficial use is not beneficial ownership for arrest purposes; beneficial ownership means title or equitable ownership, not operational control under a demise charter. The respondent vessel was therefore not liable to arrest for debts arising from other vessels.</description>
