    <title>1959 (3) TMI 58 - Supreme Court</title>
    <link>https://www.taxtmi.com/caselaws?id=192498</link>
<description>A wagering agreement may be void under Section 30 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, but it is not for that reason illegal under Section 23. The Court held that wagers were not forbidden by law, no recognised head of public policy invalidated a partnership formed to deal in wagering transactions, and the statutory concept of immorality did not extend beyond sexual immorality. The collateral partnership therefore remained enforceable and was not rendered unlawful merely because its object related to wagering.</description>
