    <title>1965 (4) TMI 116 - Supreme Court</title>
    <link>https://www.taxtmi.com/caselaws?id=181299</link>
<description>A bona fide family arrangement made to settle competing claims to an estate was treated as a complete and binding settlement where the deed, surrounding litigation and subsequent conduct showed that the parties intended final composition of family disputes. Such an arrangement was not regarded as a transfer or alienation in the ordinary sense and therefore was not hit by the prohibition in section 37(a) of the U.P. Court of Wards Act, 1912. Because the parties accepted benefits under the settlement and acted upon it, including release of property from wardship, a challenge to the deed was barred by estoppel.</description>
