Specified seized articles, currency and securities may be promptly disposed of by a designated officer in the manner determined by the Central Government. The receiving officer must prepare an inventory containing description, value and identifying particulars, and obtain a Magistrate's certification of its correctness. The certified inventory constitutes primary evidence in proceedings for offences, notwithstanding the Indian Evidence Act or the Code of Criminal Procedure. The officer must immediately report the seizure to the competent Court of Session or Assistant Sessions Judge for confiscation adjudication.
