    <description>Section 10FX requires appointments of the Chairperson and Members of the Appellate Tribunal and President and Members of the Tribunal to be made by the Central Government on recommendations of a Selection Committee chaired by the Chief Justice of India or nominee and comprising specified Secretaries, with the Joint Secretary as Convenor. The Government must refer vacancies to the Committee within prescribed timeframes; the Committee must recommend a panel of three names within one month and satisfy itself that recommended persons have no financial or other interest likely to prejudice their functions. Appointments are not invalidated by vacancies or defects in the Committee&#039;s constitution.</description>
