Where the competent customs authority is satisfied that an applicant has fulfilled prescribed conditions, it may approve the applicant as a Customs Cargo Service provider for a limited initial term, with transitional preservation of existing approvals for a longer initial term. The authority shall review approvals before expiry and may extend them for further limited terms. The authority may order an early review for stated reasons. For providers authorised under the Authorised Economic Operator programme, the appointment remains effective so long as the AEO authorisation is valid and not suspended or revoked.
