    <description>A person may apply at the registered post office (or any post office which will forward the application) for a duplicate social security certificate on furnishing particulars and any identity slip. The registered post office may issue a duplicate on an indemnity bond with approved sureties or a bank guarantee; Rs. 500 certificates may be reissued on an indemnity bond without surety. Mutilated or defaced certificates surrendered with an identity slip may be replaced without bond or surety if identifiable. Duplicates are equivalent to originals but require verification before encashment outside the registering post office.</description>
