    <title>2002 (7) TMI 563 - HIGH COURT OF DELHI</title>
    <link>https://www.taxtmi.com/caselaws?id=106379</link>
<description>A distinct gown or coat for senior advocates was held not to be discriminatory under Article 14, because senior advocates are recognised by the Advocates Act, 1961 as a separate class and are granted statutory distinctions, including pre-audience. Although the Bar Council of India Rules prescribe a general dress code and do not expressly set a separate design for senior advocates, the long-standing dress practice was treated as a permissible incident of that legal status and not unconstitutional absent supporting factual foundation. The challenge therefore failed.</description>
