of <h1>HDFC Named as Financial Institution u/s 80E of Income-tax Act, 1961 by Central Government Notification.</h1> The Central Government has designated Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited (HDFC) as a financial institution under Section 80E of the Income-tax Act, 1961. This specification was made through Notification No. 157, dated 21st June 2002, by the authority of clause (b) of Sub-section (3) of Section 80E. A subsequent correction was made through Notification No. 362 on 3rd December 2002, clarifying the name as Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited.
