Initially approved for three years starting in 1999, the project was extended for another three years from 2002. The National Committee, satisfied with the project's execution, recommended modifications to include constructing school buildings, purchasing library books and medicines, and promoting health and sports. The project is now amended to include these activities with a budget of Rs. 30 lakhs.
