Amendment to 1965 Customs Notification: New Import Duty Drawback Rates Based on Duration of Goods Use Effective 2008
The Central Government has amended Notification No. 19-Customs, dated February 6, 1965, under the Customs Act, 1962. This amendment, effective from March 1, 2008, modifies the percentage of import duty to be paid as a drawback when goods are exported after use. The revised table outlines the percentage of duty based on the period between the date of clearance for home consumption and the date the goods are placed under Customs control for export, ranging from 95% for up to three months to nil for over eighteen months. The first proviso following the table has been omitted.
