of <h1>Government Updates Export Rules for SCOMET Items Under ITC (HS) Classification; Export License Required for Certain Goods</h1> The Central Government has amended the ITC (HS) Classification of Export and Import Items, 2004-2009, effective immediately, under the authority of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992. The amendments pertain to the list of Special Chemicals, Organisms, Materials, Equipment, and Technologies (SCOMET) in Appendix 3 to Schedule 2. Export of SCOMET items is regulated and requires an export license unless otherwise specified. Exporters must consult the Handbook of Procedures for guidelines. The notification is issued in the public interest by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
