Initially specified in 1994, the project has been extended multiple times and is now approved for an additional three years starting from the assessment year 2003-2004. The approved project cost has been increased from Rs. 1726 lakhs to Rs. 2676 lakhs. The National Committee recommended this extension, emphasizing the need to maintain separate records for poor and paid patients.
