of <h1>Excise Duty Exemption for Tubular Knitted Gas Mantle Fabric Under Entry 159A of Central Excise Act 1944</h1> The Central Government, under the Central Excise Act, 1944, has amended the notification No. 6/2000-Central Excise, dated March 1, 2000, by inserting a new entry, 159A, in the tariff table. This amendment exempts tubular knitted gas mantle fabric, whether or not impregnated, intended for use in incandescent gas mantles, from excise duty. This decision, effective from October 19, 2000, is deemed necessary in the public interest. The principal notification was previously amended by notification No. 50/2000-Central Excise, dated September 29, 2000.
