of <h1>Central Government Extends Sterlite Foundation's Vocational Training Project u/s 35AC for Three More Years.</h1> The Central Government, under section 35AC of the Income-tax Act, 1961, has extended the eligibility of a project by Sterlite Foundation to set up and run vocational training centers for computer courses and tailoring classes at 386 centers. Initially approved for the assessment year 1998-1999, the project has been extended multiple times, with the latest extension covering three years starting from the financial year 2006-07. The approved cost remains Rs. 8272.62 lakh, including a corpus fund of Rs. 7242.00 lakh, as recommended by the National Committee for Promotion of Social and Economic Welfare.
