Amendment to Foreign Trade Policy 2004-09: Duty Credit Now Usable for Importing Freely Importable Goods Under Para 3.7.6
The Central Government has amended Para 3.7.6 of the Foreign Trade Policy 2004-09 under Notification No. 16/2004-09, effective January 4, 2005. The amendment allows duty credit to be used for importing inputs, capital goods, and office equipment, provided they are freely importable under the ITC (HS) Classification. However, imports of certain agricultural products with duties over 30% are restricted, including specific vegetables, fruits, spices, tea, coffee, pepper, oil seeds, and natural rubber. Edible oils under Chapter 15 can only be imported through STC and MMTC. This amendment is issued in public interest by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
