of <h1>Imports of Hazardous Waste Prohibited; Chemicals Allowed Without License Under Amended Foreign Trade Policy Rules</h1> Notification No. 35/2003, dated February 16, 2004, amends the ITC (HS) Classification of Export and Import Items 2002-07 under the Foreign Trade Policy. The amendment specifies that imports of hazardous waste into India are subject to the Hazardous Wastes (Management and Handling) Amendment Rules, 2003, prohibiting imports of hazardous waste as outlined in Schedule 8 of these rules. Imports of hazardous chemicals are allowed without a license, provided compliance with the Manufacture, Storage and Import of Hazardous Chemicals Rules, 1986, including furnishing specified details to authorities before import. Appendix 1 to Schedule 1 of the ITC (HS) is deleted.
