<h1>India Bans Import of Certain Livestock Products Due to Avian Influenza Outbreak, Effective for Six Months</h1> Condition 16 of Chapter I A of the ITC (HS) Classification of Export and Import Items 2002-2007 has been amended to prohibit the import into India of specific livestock and livestock products due to the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza. The prohibited items include domestic and wild birds, day-old chicks, hatching eggs, avian meat and products, feathers, live pigs, and pig meat products. This prohibition is effective for six months from the notification date or until it is modified or withdrawn, whichever comes first. This measure is issued in the public interest by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
