<h1>India Bans Import of Livestock Products from Avian Flu-Affected Countries for 6 Months Under New Regulation</h1> The Central Government, under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, has amended the ITC (HS) Classification of Export and Import Items for 2002-07. A new regulation prohibits the import into India of specific livestock and livestock products, including birds, hatching eggs, and bird-derived products, from countries experiencing outbreaks of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus. This prohibition applies to imports from the Republic of Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Pakistan, Japan, and other affected countries for six months or until further notice. This measure is enacted in the public interest.
