India Amends ITC (HS) Classification: Import Rules Updated for Fuel Marketing Companies Per Foreign Trade Policy
The Government of India has amended the ITC (HS) Classification of Export and Import Items for 2002-2007 under the Foreign Trade Policy. The amendment specifically alters paragraph 2 of Notification No.2 (RE-2003)/2002-07, dated March 31, 2003. It states that imports are allowed through the Indian Oil Corporation, subject to paragraph 2.11 of the Exim Policy. However, exceptions are made for companies granted rights to market transportation fuels, as per a resolution by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, including those like HPCL, BPCL, and IBP, which have been marketing such fuels before March 8, 2002.
