India Amends Export-Import Policy: Bonded Warehouses Can Now Import, Supply, Re-Export Rough Diamonds via Dollar Account
The Government of India, through the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has issued amendments to the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002. Public and private bonded warehouses can now conduct import, supply, and re-export of rough diamonds via the Diamond Dollar Account, although using the Rupee Account remains an option. The eligibility criteria for diamond firms do not apply to these warehouses. Additionally, units can import essential inputs for export production and source precious metals with specified fineness through nominated agencies. These changes aim to facilitate trade and are issued in the public interest.
