India Updates Export Rules: Amendments to ITC(HS) for Chemical Exports; New Two-Year General Permission for CWC States
The Government of India, through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has issued amendments to the ITC(HS) Classification of Export and Import Items for 1997-2002. The changes affect Appendix 3 in Schedule 2, specifically under categories 1B and 1C. Exporters of certain chemicals to states parties of the Chemical Weapons Convention can apply for a two-year general export permission, provided they notify relevant authorities within 30 days of each export. Exports to non-party states remain restricted and require an export license. The amendments also delete specific item descriptions and conditions in Appendix 1 of Schedule 2.
