of <h1>India Amends Customs Notifications: Reduces Exemption Rates for Goods Imported from Singapore Under Notifications 74/2005 and 75/2005</h1> The Government of India has amended Notifications No. 74/2005 and 75/2005-Customs, originally issued on July 22, 2005, which provide exemptions for specified goods originating from the Republic of Singapore when imported into India. Effective April 1, 2007, the amendment reduces the exemption rate from 75% to 50% for Notification No. 74/2005, and from 90% to 80% for Notification No. 75/2005. These changes are made under the authority of the Customs Act, 1962, and are deemed necessary in the public interest.
