of <h1>Customs Act Update: Exemption Rate Changed from 50% to 25% Effective September 1, 2005, per Notification No. 79/2005.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 85/2004-Customs, dated August 31, 2004, under the powers granted by Section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962. This amendment changes the exemption rate in the preamble from 'fifty per cent.' to 'twenty five per cent.' The revised notification, No. 79/2005-Customs, takes effect from September 1, 2005.
