of <h1>India exempts Project ASTRA equipment from excise duty with certification; valid until September 2013.</h1> The Government of India has amended notification No. 64/95-Central Excise, dated 16th March 1995, to provide an exemption for equipment and stores used in Project ASTRA, under the Ministry of Defence. This exemption requires a certificate from the Project Director, ASTRA, confirming the intended use of the goods. Additionally, manufacturers must produce a certificate within five months of clearance, verifying the goods were used as intended. This exemption is valid until 1st September 2013. The amendment was issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, on 25th March 2013.
