Anti-dumping duty on Polyester Staple Fibres from Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Thailand rescinded following unsustainable injury claims.
The Central Government has rescinded the anti-dumping duty on certain Polyester Staple Fibres imported from Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Thailand. Initially imposed based on findings that these imports were causing material injury to the Indian industry by being sold below normal value, the duty was challenged. The Customs Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal found the injury claims unsustainable, leading to a recommendation for withdrawal by the designated authority. Consequently, the previous notification imposing the duty, dated March 21, 2003, has been withdrawn as of October 13, 2004.
