This project provides artificial limbs and rehabilitation aids to disabled individuals and offers financial support for self-employment. Initially approved for three years starting in the 2000-01 assessment year, it has been extended multiple times. The latest extension covers 2011-12 to 2013-14, with the project's estimated cost increased from Rs. 11.50 crore to Rs. 23.00 crore, following a recommendation by the National Committee for the Promotion of Social and Economic Welfare.
