of <h1>SFIO's Senior Assistant Director Authorized to Prosecute Companies Act Offences Under Section 621(1)</h1> Offences under the Companies Act, 1956, can only be prosecuted upon a complaint by the Registrar, a shareholder, or the Government. The Central Government, under the authority of section 621(1) of the Act, has designated an officer from the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) within the Ministry of Corporate Affairs to file and conduct these prosecutions. The officer appointed for this role is the Senior Assistant Director. This notification was issued on December 4, 2008, as Notification No. GSR 833(E).
