of <h1>SEBI Officers Empowered to Enforce Specific Sections of Companies Act, 1956, Effective February 26, 1997</h1> The Central Government authorizes certain officers from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), established under the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992, to act under the Companies Act, 1956. This authorization, effective from February 26, 1997, supersedes a previous notification from February 15, 1995. The designated officers are empowered to address offences under specific sections of the Companies Act, including sections 56, 59, 63, 68, 73, 113, and 207. This notification is issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Company Affairs.
