of <h1>India Permits River Sand Export to Maldives Under Bilateral Trade, Capped at 1,185,455 MT for 2011-12</h1> The Government of India has issued a notification permitting the export of river sand to the Republic of Maldives under a bilateral trade agreement. This is governed by Export Licensing Note 2 in Chapter 25 of the ITC(HS) Classification. For the financial year 2011-12, the export ceiling is set at 1,185,455 metric tons. CAPEXIL will monitor the ceiling and ensure suppliers have necessary clearances, avoiding mining in Coastal Regulation Zone areas. Exporters must also obtain environmental clearances from state authorities. This policy aims to regulate and facilitate river sand exports to the Maldives.
