India Tightens Guar Gum Export Rules to EU: Zero Tolerance for PCP; Requires Health Certificate and Vimta Labs Report
The Government of India has amended Notification No. 50/2009-2014 regarding the export of Guar gum to the European Union. The amendment, effective from May 18, 2011, specifies that Guar gum, whether refined split or treated and pulverized, can be exported freely to the EU only if it is certified free of Penta Chlorophenol (PCP) by authorized bodies. Previously, up to 0.01 mg/Kg of PCP was permissible. Now, exports must be accompanied by a Health Certificate and an analytical report from Vimta Labs, Hyderabad, confirming no PCP presence. This change ensures stricter compliance with EU import standards.
