India Removes Export Restrictions on Cotton Yarn; Registration with DGFT Required for Tariff Codes 5205, 5206, 5207
The Government of India has lifted restrictions on the export of cotton yarn, effective April 1, 2011. Under the amended Foreign Trade Policy, the export of cotton yarn, previously restricted and allowed only against a license, is now classified as 'Free.' However, exporters must register their contracts with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) before shipment. Customs clearance will be granted after verifying the registration of these contracts. This change applies to cotton yarn described under Tariff Codes 5205, 5206, and 5207.
