Central Excise Notification Amends Duty Rates on Goods from Chapters 54-82, Revises Gold and Copper Entries
The notification amends the earlier notification No. 5/2006-Central Excise concerning the effective rate of duty on goods from Chapter 54 to Chapter 82. Effective from March 24, 2011, the amendments include changes in the wording of specific entries in the notification table. In entry S. No. 21, the phrase 'from any form of gold' is replaced with 'from any form of gold other than gold ore, concentrate or dore bar.' In entry S. No. 23, the word 'copper' is removed. These amendments are made under the authority of the Central Excise Act, 1944, in the interest of public necessity.
