This directorate will manage all budget-related matters for Grant No. 42 Direct Taxes, including issuing budget circulars, examining and consolidating budget proposals, allocating approved provisions, and monitoring expenditure. It will also handle audit references and other related tasks. The directorate, based in New Delhi, will be led by a Director of Income-tax and consist of two divisions headed by Additional Commissioners, with staff requirements to be notified separately.
