Govt Amends Notification to Exempt Specific Goods from CVD; Includes Copper Dross, Printer Parts, LEDs, DVD Drive Parts
The Central Government has amended Notification No. 20/2006-Customs to exempt certain specified goods from the special countervailing duty (CVD) on imports, effective from March 1, 2011. New entries have been added to the exemption list, including copper dross, parts of inkjet and laser-jet printers, light-emitting diodes for LED manufacturing, and parts of DVD drives, among others. These exemptions are subject to conditions specified in earlier notifications, particularly Notification No. 21/2002-Customs. The changes are made under the authority of Section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962, in the public interest.
