Initially notified in 1994, the project has seen multiple extensions, with the estimated cost increasing from Rs. 1380 lakhs to Rs. 2676 lakhs. The project is now approved for an additional two years, covering the financial years 2010-2011 and 2011-2012, following recommendations from the National Committee for Promotion of Social and Economic Welfare.
