India Amends Foreign Trade Policy to Allow 200,000 Metric Tons of Wheat Exports to Bangladesh Despite Ban
The Government of India has amended its Foreign Trade Policy to allow the export of 200,000 metric tons of wheat to Bangladesh, despite an existing prohibition on wheat exports. This exemption will be executed by the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under the Department of Commerce, specifically M/s. STC and M/s. PEC Ltd., each exporting 100,000 metric tons. The wheat will be sourced from the Food Corporation of India at economic costs, with additional costs such as freight and insurance covered by the Government of Bangladesh. The Ministry of External Affairs will facilitate communication between the involved parties. All other existing provisions remain unchanged.
