India Restricts Import of Multichannel GSM/CDMA Devices Under Foreign Trade Policy 2009-14, Effective July 15, 2010
The Government of India has amended its import policy regarding 'off-the-air GSM monitoring technology' under the Foreign Trade Policy 2009-14. The amendment, effective from July 15, 2010, classifies the import of multichannel GSM/CDMA receivers, transmitters, and transceivers capable of operating on multiple frequencies simultaneously as 'restricted.' This change is reflected in Chapter 1A of the import policy and is noted in Import Licensing Note No. 4 following Chapter 85. The amendment is issued in the public interest by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
